I recently participated in my first quickdraw event at the 2012 America’s Great Plein Air Paint-out on the Forgotton coast of Florida. The painting above was completed during a two hour timed painting event and I had a blast! I was so excited to be painting with so many of the artists from across the country that I admire. One of those artists, Ken Dewaard, won the first place award for this event and I enjoyed getting to meet him and watch him paint several times during this event. I also met and observed other artists whose work I love, such as Jim Richards, Harold Frontz, Richard Oversmith, Bill Farnsworth, Morgan Samuel Price, Greg Barnes, and many others. You can see the great paintings created during this event at the website, http://www.pleinairfl.com/.
I spent the entire 10 days in the area painting with other artist friends and we made many memories from our time there, along with completing lots of plein air paintings. I will be posting more about this event in upcoming posts, along with information about my trip to the first Plein Air Convention in April to Las Vegas! It has been a busy travel time for me but I have enjoyed every minute and hope to share some great information and photos with you!
